The project Medien.Gestalten.Perspektiven (Media.Design.Perspectives) at the Berufsbildungswerk Abensberg, Bavaria, addresses the question of how digital media can support educational and relational processes in vocational rehabilitation, even in a pandemic-free future. In an integrative mixed-methods research design on teaching and learning with digital media, a quantitative questionnaire study with 76 instructors and qualitative interviews with 6 instructors were conducted, supplemented by suggestions and wishes of trainees on a digital bulletin board. The data were evaluated with the help of descriptive statistics and correlation analyses as well as summarizing qualitative content analyses in order to present the actual situation of the institution. Based on the results, ten theory- and evidence-driven objectives were formulated as the desired target state of the institution in the perspective of digitization. To achieve these objectives, ten corresponding work packages were defined, which are presented in this article.
