In this chapter, we concentrate on how wikis are being used in the field of library and information science (LIS). As a field concerned with Information, LIS has been one of the first fields after Computer science to adopt wikis for a ränge of uses. Many of the contributors to LIS wikis are practitioners, teachers or researchers, and most of them would say that their primary interest and skills are in Information rather than technology. LIS therefore provides an example of how wikis might be adopted in a field of study and practice by people who do not necessarily have a technical background. The chapter introduces a collection of wikis used for library work as well as others considered useful for Information Professionals in LIS and related fields. This is not an exhaustive list of wikis in LIS and, as with the wikis described in other chapters, there may be some changes by the time you read this book.
