Definitionen
Die Item-Response-Theorie wird auch probabilistische Testtheorie genannt und ist ein Rahmenkonzept für die Entwicklung standardisierter Leistungstests. Dieses Rahmenkonzept geht davon aus, dass aus beobachtbaren Daten (z. B. den Antworten auf Testaufgaben) auf zugrunde liegende Eigenschaften einer Person geschlossen werden kann. Ein Modell, das diese Art von Schlussfolgerung zulässt, ist das Rasch-Modell. Es basiert auf der Annahme, dass sich die Kompetenz einer Person anhand ihrer Fähigkeit sowie der Schwierigkeit der gestellten Testaufgaben eindimensional beschreiben lässt.
